The United States must accommodate a more ambitious European Union. That was the main message that emerged yesterday from a European Parliament debate in Strasbourg on the state of EU-U.S. relations. Attended by representatives of member states and the European Commission, the debate also highlighted the importance of the Middle East peace process, which the EU sees as an indicator of U.S. readiness to work with the bloc.
